NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 4

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 4 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season.

The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League

Izaak Wyatt, of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with wrestling player number 2 of Palmerston Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Southern Districts and Palmerston at Norbuilt Oval on Sunday 28 October 2018.

Based on the video evidence available, it has been classified as a low level offence, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Wyatt can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea. 

Riley Brown, of Palmerston Football Club has been charged with striking player number 9 of Southern Districts Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Southern Districts and Palmerston at Norbuilt Oval on Sunday 28 October 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty. 

In summary, Brown can accept a two-match suspension as an early guilty plea. 

Men’s Division 2

Ben Gunn, of University Football Club, has been charged with abusive behaviour towards an umpire in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between Waratah Football Club and University at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 27 October 2018. 

It is a classifiable offence, which has been referred directly to the Tribunal. 

In addition, Gunn has been charged with spitting at or on an umpire during the fourth quarter of the same game. 

It is a classifiable offence, which has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

Other charges assessed

Men’s Premier League

The umpire’s report against Doug Mansell, of Wanderers Football Club for striking in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Waratah Football Club and Wanderers was dismissed by the MRP. 

Tribunal will sit from 6pm tomorrow evening, Wednesday 31 October to hear the charges against Ben Gunn.

All other clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
