NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 1

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 1 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season.

The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League

Justin Simmons, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct on player number 12 of Nightcliff Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Nightcliff at TIO Stadium on Saturday 6 October 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report and video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the initial umpire’s report for charging be changed to rough conduct and that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Simmons can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Zachary Smith, of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct on player number 4 of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Southern Districts and Darwin Buffaloes at TIO Stadium on Saturday 6 October 2018.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Smith can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 1

Ashley Ringin, of Tracy Village Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 14 of Wanderers Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Tracy Village and Wanderers at Gardens Oval 2 on Sunday 7 October 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Ringin can accept a one-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

Joel Cubillo, of Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 18 of Tracy Village Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Tracy Village and Wanderers at Gardens Oval 2 on Sunday 7 October 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should  be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Cubillo can accept a two-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

Other charges assessed

Men’s Division 2

The umpire’s report against Brodie Cochrane, of St Mary’s Football Club for striking in the fourth quarter of the Men’s Division 2 match between St Mary’s and Nightcliff Football Club was dismissed by the MRP.
