NTFL Grand Final sprints are back

2016/17 Women's Grand Final sprint

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is pleased to announce the return of the popular ‘Hot100 Grand Final Sprints’ to be held during the 2017/18 TIO NTFL Finals Series.

There will be a women’s race held at half time of the TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League Grand Final on Saturday 10 March and a men’s race also held at half time of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League Grand Final on Saturday 17 March.

The sprint event is raced over 100 metres with all NTFL Premier League clubs invited to nominate one representative from their playing list to compete in each race.

This season umpires are also invited to nominate a participant for each event and the races will once again be officiated by Athletics NT.

AFLNT CEO Michael Solomon said the sprints added an exciting element to both Grand Final days and last year’s inaugural races were a great spectacle.

“The sprints are yet another addition to our Grand Final day celebration of footy. They are some of the biggest days on the Northern Territory sporting calendar and we are continuously working to improve the experience for our fans.

“I’m sure it will be a great spectacle of athleticism and excitement,” Solomon said.

Prize money for both races will be:
1st - $700
2nd - $350
3rd - $200

Nomination forms have been sent directly to the relevant clubs and are to be returned to stacey.davis@afl.com.au by the due date. Nominations for female entrants close next Wednesday 7 March and male entrants on Wednesday 14 March 2018.
