NTFL Tribunal: Round 13 - Part 1

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Tribunal sat on Wednesday 17 January to hear one charge from Round 12 and two charges from Round 13 of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League.

Mitchell Taylor of Wanderers Football Club appeared before the Tribunal to answer the charge of forceful front on contact on player number 19 of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, in the first quarter of Round 12 of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and Darwin at TIO Stadium on Saturday 6 January 2018.

Taylor pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In summary, Taylor was found guilty of forceful front on contact.

Based on the evidence available, the Tribunal re-classified the incident as careless conduct (down from intentional) but kept it as high impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

He has already served one-match of the three-match penalty.

Jerome Motlop, runner of Wanderers Football Club, appeared before the Tribunal to answer the charge of misconduct, in the third quarter of the Round 13 TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Friday 12 January 2018.

Motlop did not enter a plea and was found guilty of misconduct and issued with a reprimand. 

 

Michael Coombes, of St Mary’s Football Club, appeared before the Tribunal to answer five charges from the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Friday 12 January 2018.  

There were six original charges issued by the MRP, and the following five were referred to the Tribunal to hear tonight:

Charge 2

Striking player number 5 of Wanderers FC

Charge 3

Striking player number 9 of Wanderers FC

Charge 4

Wrestling player number 9 of Wanderers FC

Charge 5

Rough conduct on player number 9 of Wanderers FC

Charge 6

Kicking player number 9 of Wanderers FC

The Tribunal decided to combine some of the charges, with charge number 2; striking player number 5 of Wanderers FC remaining as a standalone, and all remaining charges (charges 3 – 6) relating to opposition player number 9 were amalgamated into one charge of serious misconduct.  

Coombes pleaded not guilty to Charge 2; striking player number 5 of Wanderers FC.

In summary, Coombes was found guilty of striking and issued with a one-match penalty. 

Coombes pleaded guilty to serious misconduct (originally charges 3 – 6) and was issued with a three-match penalty, which was reduced to two matches due to his early guilty plea. 

In total for both charges Coombes has been issued with a three-match suspension.
