The Tiwi Bombers are currently seeking applications for three coaching positions:

  • Men’s Premier League Coach
  • U18’s Youth Girls Coach
  • U15’s Youth Girls Coach

Men’s Premier League Coach – Tiwi Bombers Football Club

Reports to: TBFC President/Football Manager

Position purpose: In collaboration with the TBFC President/Football Manager and working within club policy parameters, contribute to the on-field success of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club through;

  • The identification, recruitment, training and management of players, the coaching of the Premier League team, and the leadership and development of all coaching staff of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club
  • The Senior Coach will work in close collaboration with the TBFC President/Football Manager to provide strategic direction for the football operations of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club from all teams participating in the NTFL competition Club Coaching.
  • The Senior Coach will work to continue to develop and formulate an on and off field pathway with Tracy Village Football Club, in regards to player and coaching opportunities for both TBFC & Tracy Village

Accountability: Accountable to the Board of Directors through the TBFC President/Football Manager to ensure the highest standard of football both in preparation and performance. To continue the growth and develop of the Club, working towards consistent success and established reputation of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club as the most professional and successful Club within the NTFL Competition. To adhere to Tiwi Bombers Football Club policies and procedures.

Responsible for:

Coaching and teaching

  • Establishment of a positive, safe and enjoyable playing and training environment
  • Supervision of the preparation of the Senior Squad players and direct responsibility for coaching the Premier League team
  • Provide specialist coaching for individuals needing improvement in particular areas
  • In consultation with the Match Committee, develop the Club’s general team rules and playing patterns, devise specific strategies and game plans, and supervise their implementation in order that the long-term goals of the Club are achieved
  • Guiding, advising and utilising the knowledge and skills of the assistant coaches and support staff to plan, conduct and evaluate training sessions in order to optimise the football potential of each individual on the TBFC Senior List
  • Playing a leading role in the selection of the senior teams and the resolution of relevant disciplinary matters as a senior member of the Match Committee
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate two training centres on the Tiwi Islands

Planning

  • In consultation with the TBFC President/Football Manager and Match Committee clearly identify long-term goals for the on-field performance of the Club and specify short and medium term strategies, which are measurable and achievable and contribute to the Club’s vision and mission
  • In consultation with the TBFC President/Football Manager cooperate with the prudent management of the Football Operations budget as it affects the performance of the Senior Team
  • In consultation with the TBFC President/Football Manager and AFLNT lead relevant staff in an Annual Football Operations Review process and assist in the preparation of an Evaluation Report on the preceding season which addresses the following:\
    • Individual player performances
    • Team performances
    • Support staff evaluations
    • Other issues as appropriate
  • Prepare and submit reports to the TBFC President/Football Manager and AFLNT as requested

Football operations

  • Assist the TBFC President/Football Manager to recruit, retain and reward the volunteers involved with the Senior Team
  • In collaboration with the TBFC President/Football Manager and Match Committee assume a leading role in the recruitment of the best possible football talent to the TBFC and in line with NTFL By-Laws
  • In consultation with the Match Committee formulate the Senior Training List and any subsequent changes
  • Full understanding of NTFL regulations - Player Registration, Lists and Transfers and process the necessary documentation in consultation with the TBFC President/Football Manager

Club teams' development

  • In consultation with relevant staff and junior team coaches establish and monitor the strategies necessary to ensure the successful implementation of the Club’s Youth Promotion Policy both male and female
  • Meet with the Club’s Junior Team coaches weekly to discuss Club strategies, training procedures, junior development, talent identification and recruiting procedures

Promotion and public relations

  • Attend and participate in Club functions as directed by the TBFC President/Football Manager – prior notice is assumed
  • At the request of the TBFC President/Football Manager be available to the media for comment relevant to the playing performances of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club
  • Ability to have written reports on a quarterly basis and weekly match reports for distribution to members and for the TBFC website

Selection Criteria:

Mandatory

  • AFL Coaching Level 2 Accreditation, or willingness to obtain
  • Experience in Coaching and Leading Groups
  • Highly developed communication skills (written and verbal) with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to lead and educate in conjunction with an ability to develop strong relationships with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)

Desirable

  • It is preferred that the coach resides on Tiwi Island or can maintain continual visits in their own working capacity
  • Experience working with boards

U18s and U15s Youth Girls Coaches – Tiwi Bombers Football Club

Responsible for:

Coaching and teaching

  • Establish a positive, safe and enjoyable playing and training environment for all involved
  • Supervision of the preparation of the squad players and direct responsibility for coaching the Youth Girls team
  • Provide specialist coaching for individuals needing improvement in game sense areas
  • In consultation with the assistant coaches, develop the clubs team rules and playing style, devise specific strategies and game plans, and supervise their implementation in order that the long-term goals of the club achieved
  • Guiding, advising and utilising the knowledge and skills of the assistant coaches and support staff to plan, conduct and evaluate training sessions in order to optimise the football potential of each individual on the team list
  • Playing a leading role in the selection of the Youth Girls team and resolution of relevant disciplinary matters as a senior member of the selection committee
  • Establish planned training sessions for all coaches to implement in other training centres locations
  • Understand your role as a coach and role model to the team
