NT team preparing for first Inclusion Carnival

Inclusion squad at training

AFLNT is excited to enter its first team into the National Inclusion Carnival, to be held on the Gold Coast between 24 – 30 July.

The carnival is a weeklong competition where male footballers with an intellectual disability represent their state/territory.

2017 marks the first time there will be an NT representative team, with AFLNT partnering with Total Recreation to establish the team.

Players must be over 16 to compete in the carnival but anyone 14-years-old and older is welcome to attend training, which takes place every Wednesday afternoon between 3:30 and 5pm at TIO Oval 2, Marrara.

Manager of Game Development, Jennifer Le Quesne said she was proud the NT would participate in this year’s competition.

“We had a really positive turn out to the first training session last week and we are hoping to build on that.

“AFL is accessible to everyone these days and we want to make sure anyone who is passionate about playing has the opportunity to do so,” she said.

AFLNT is looking for more players and support from businesses, whether financial or in-kind.

Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Nick Eades at nick.eades@afl.com.au

Media who are interested in the team are able to film/photograph certain training sessions and interview talent but are asked to make contact with Amy Blake on 89804801 to arrange.
