AFL Northern Territory is proud to announce local umpire Merlene Hutt has been contracted for the 2019 NAB AFLW Umpiring panel.

Hutt, a boundary umpire in the NTFL with 105 games of experience, has been involved in the AFLW competition since the inaugural season in 2017.

AFLNT Umpiring Manager, Andrew McBean said Hutt had worked extremely hard to keep her position on the AFLW umpiring list.

‘It’s great reward for Merlene to be selected once again. Her work ethic is exceptional and her umpiring standard and consistency in the local NTFL competition has played a large factor in her being re-selected.  She will only benefit from the opportunity to umpire around the country at a national level and we are lucky she will bring that back to our local competitions in the NT.

“She is a great role model and will hopefully inspire other up and coming umpires to follow in her footsteps, we can’t wait to watch her in action and wish her well,” McBean said.

Hutt has boundary umpired 9 AFLW games to-date including 3 AFLW practice matches.
