The Kennard’s Hire Berrimah Challenge returns for 2018 this Friday at TIO Stadium, Marrara with 430 young boys and girls expected to put the past 8 weeks of their football training and games to the test.

The long-standing annual competition sees the exciting inclusion of two new teams this year from the Tiwi Islands – an under 11 boys and under 12 girls will make the trip to Darwin to take on the Thunder Juniors teams from the city and Palmerston areas.

The Challenge kicks off at 5.30pm on TIO Stadium and TIO Oval 2, with each team playing up to three games throughout the evening.

AFLNT Manager of Club and Game Development, Emily Wastle, is thrilled that Tiwi can be part of the 2018 Kennard’s Hire Berrimah Challenge.

“It’ll be great to see so many eager youngsters on the footy field this Friday night and I’m really pleased that Tiwi join the teams lining up this year.

“The Thunder Juniors season is nearly over and the Berrimah Challenge is a fantastic way to bring together all the participants for an evening of footy fun,” Wastle said.

Thunder Juniors is AFLNT’s junior football program that builds on Auskick and is for boys and girls to get their first real taste of playing in a club environment with rules that are modified to maximise skill development, participation and most of all fun.

The Thunder Juniors season in Darwin and Palmerston will finish next week, while the Alice Springs league will finish on Saturday 11 August.
