BRFL Round 4 Match Review Panel Update

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Katherine-based Match Review Panel has reviewed the incidents in the fourth quarter and at the conclusion of the NT WorkSafe Big Rivers Football League (BRFL) Men’s Round 4 game between Kalano Bombers and Katherine Camels at Nitmiluk Oval on Friday 18 May 2018.

Based on the video evidence available, five players have been issued a total of 18 charges.
 
Gabriel Henry, of Kalano Football Club, has been charged with:

  • Serious misconduct
  • Instigating a melee
  • Engaging in a melee
  • Three separate counts of striking player number 35 of Katherine Camels

Abraham Henry, of Kalano Football Club, has been charged with:
•    Engaging in a melee
•    Kicking player number 35 of Katherine Camels
•    Serious misconduct

James Hersey, of Katherine Camels Football Club, has been charged with:

  • Using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language
  • Misconduct
  • Engaging in a melee

Jason Hogan, of Kalano Football Club, has been charged with:
•    Striking player number 33 of Katherine Camels
•    Striking player number 25 of Katherine Camels
•    Engaging in a melee

Jesse Hogan, of Kalano Football Club, has been charged with:
•    Striking player number 33 of Katherine Camels
•    Instigating a melee
•    Engaging in a melee

It was the view of the panel that all incidents should be referred directly to the Tribunal. 

As a full investigation into the incident is underway the Tribunal has subsequently deferred all matters until advised by investigators to proceed. 

As such, in accordance with rule 9.4.4 of the AFLNT Rules and Regulations 2018, of which the NT WorkSafe BRFL is bound by, the players are not eligible to play until the matter has been adjudicated by the Tribunal, and any prescribed penalty is served.  

AFLNT Rules & Regulations 2018;
9.4.4 In the case of a tribunal hearing having been deferred, any player or official against whom a charge has been laid and then deferred is not eligible to play or officiate in any AFLNT managed competition until such time as the tribunal has adjudicated over the charge.

(a) AFLNT have no discretionary authority to allow a player or official to participate in any AFLNT managed competition until such time as the tribunal has adjudicated over the charge.
