AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is pleased to announce a partnership with a new cleaning provider, Yaanma Services, who will be providing services to the Michael Long Learning & Leadership Centre, TIO Stadium and other AFLNT Darwin facilities.
AFLNT held a tender process and Yaanma were announced as the successful provider commencing services on 1 April 2018.
Yaanma is an Indigenous business offering specialist cleaning and maintenance services to government, corporate, commercial & retail sectors. A national provider, they have teams based in NSW, NT, VIC, QLD, SA & WA and concentrate on Indigenous leadership and employing Indigenous Australians with a strong customer focus.
AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham said he was really pleased with the new partnership and the opportunities that it would produce.
“This partnership supports our push for more indigenous procurement across our business and we are pleased that a company like Yaanma can expand and grow their capacity across the Northern Territory,”
“AFLNT ran a transparent tender process for our cleaning contract and Yaanma produced a high quality, and ultimately successful, commercial submission,” he said.
“We look forward to engaging with more indigenous businesses throughout our organisation. We have a 30% indigenous population here in the Territory and our indigenous participation in football is around 60% so naturally we want more indigenous people involved with AFLNT through business and employment.”
Yaanma executive board member Ben Bayot said Yaanma were thankful to AFLNT for giving them the opportunity to work in partnership with their staff.
“For us to employ local people here in the Territory is just a perfect fit for us all,” he said.
Yaanma Operations Manager Shannon Motlop said his staff had settled in well so far working throughout the AFLNT offices.
“The AFLNT staff have been very accommodating and we really look forward to a long, ongoing partnership.”
