NEW AFLNT STATE DEVELOPMENT COACH

NEW AFLNT STATE DEVELOPMENT COACH

AFLNT is excited to announce Jimmy Driscoll has accepted the position of State Development Coach and will commence in the role on Monday 13 February.

He takes over from Andrew Hodges, who was appointed NT Thunder Head Coach in December.

Thirty-one-year-old Driscoll is currently a Remote Projects Manager for AFLNT and is based in Alice Springs but will relocate to Darwin for his new role.

He completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement/Psychological Studies at Victoria University, before being appointed as North Melbourne Football Club's Recruiting and Football Operations Coordinator.

In 2013 and 2014 Driscoll was an assistant coach at TAC Cup side the North Ballarat Rebels before switching to the Northern Knights in 2016.

He also coached the 2016 Under 16 NT Kickstart Girls team at the Diversity Championships last September.

AFLNT High Performance Manager Wally Gallio said Driscoll was a natural fit for the job.

"Jimmy impressed us the interview panel with the work he has already done in developing strong cultures and leadership at football clubs.

"His football knowledge and keenness to advance our players and programs made him the best candidate for the role," Gallio said.

Driscoll acknowledged he had big shoes to fill and said he was looking forward to working in the same team as Hodges.

"I am honoured to have this opportunity and am excited to work with Wally, Joel Bowden and Hodgy to build a one-team culture.

"Still having Hodgy here to pass on his knowledge, so that I can get a greater understanding of NT footy, is a bonus," Driscoll said.

He also touched on his desire to create a winning environment both on and off the field.

"I am passionate about using football to improve player welfare and ensuring that we get good people in and develop them as people as well as footballers.

"I am looking forward to immersing myself in the NT footy culture and hopefully unearthing a couple of future stars," Driscoll said.
