2017 Minahan Medal Best and Fairest Night

The 2017 Minahan Medal Best and Fairest night was held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre on Saturday 16th September in front of a large crowd.

Hosted by Alice Springs Mayor Damien Ryan, the night began with an official Welcome to Country performed by Phil Alice from Santa Theresa.

Michelle Ellis from Pioneer E-girls won the Yeperenye Margaret Liddle Medal after a great season and will play in this weekend’s grand final against Alkamilya who are going for their fifth premiership in a row.

Henry Impu from West Football Club won the coveted Minahan Medal on 16 votes after being runner up in last year’s count while exciting Rovers forward Gibson Turner won the Leading Goal Kicker award on 56 goals.

Umpire Barry Georgopoulos was awarded life membership for his services to the game.

AFLNT’s Footballer Operations Manager for Central Australia Simon Hargreave said “It was a great night to recognize 70 years of football in Alice Springs and to also welcome more footballers into the Alice Springs history books.”
