NT WOMEN’S ALL STARS MATCH

NT WOMEN’S ALL STARS MATCH

AFL Northern Territory kicks off the re-scheduled TIO NTFL Women’s Round with an announcement of an NT Women’s All Stars Match to be played on April 5 as a curtain raiser to the NT Thunder v Aspley match at TIO Stadium.

"This is going to give NT girls a chance to showcase the talent we know exists in the NT," said Talent and Education Manager Tavis Perry

The game will be streamed LIVE on ThunderVISION (www.youtube.com/territorythunder) as well as copies of the game will be sent to the AFL recruiters to give the NT girls a chance to be drafted and play a curtain raiser match on the MCG as was done in 2013 with the inaugural Women’s Match between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs

"AFLNT and NT Thunder are going to the extra step to broadcast the game to ensure the maximum exposure possible for the NT female talent and give them the best possible opportunity to make it into one of the teams."

Following on from the inaugural Youth Girls Kickstart Championship victory, Perry believes this gives a great opportunity for NT females to play AFL footy at the highest level and hopes the NT can be represented on the national stage in front of a crowd at the MCG.

"It gives the girls a rare chance to play representative footy and adds another link to our female player pathway which we are adding to all the time. It enables further opportunity and growth for our female programs which have been one of our largest growth areas in recent years."

This weekend is Women’s Round in the TIO NTFL with all women’s competition to be played on Sunday here at TIO Stadium on the main oval with matches starting at 9am get down to TIO Stadium to see the next batch of NT female talent.

AFLNT and NT Thunder are now accepting nominations for girls aged between 18-25 for this match and if clubs wish to nominate players or coaches please email Talent & Education Manager Tavis Perry tavis.perry@aflnt.com.au
