We are the Champions! - NT Girls Kickstart

The inaugural Kickstart Youth Girls National Championships have been hailed a resounding success after a week of spectacular football with the NT Girls winning the championship

Northern Territory was crowned the first ever champion of the tournament, after defeating Victoria in the Grand Final Friday, 6.9 (45) to 6.1 (37).

The Territory girls  put in a massive effort to fight back and win after losing to Victoria early on in the preliminary rounds to take the inaugural championship in a nailbiting contest.
After trailing at half-time, the Territory found something and booted a goal in the dying moments to seal the historic 6.9 (45) to 6.1 (37) victory.

Tiwi Islander Darrelyn Puruntatameri  kicked three, with Leashay Warburton adding two and Caitlin Armstrong the tournament MVP kicking one to lead the Territory to a sensational win.
"With players from Ngukurr, Tiwi Islands, Elcho Island, Alice Springs & Darwin it was great to see the way the players came together and got along so well on and off the field" said Head Coach Andy Hood.
Nine of the Territory's 12 girl squad were then selected as part of the National squad a fantastic effort by all.
