2012 AFLCA Easter Lightning Carnival

2012 AFLCA Easter Lightning Carnival

It’s nearly time again for the 2012 for the Easter Lightning Carnival at Traeger Park, Alice Springs.

This year we are aiming for 36 teams from all over Central Australia, South Australia and Western Australia. Majority of these competitors come from remote communities far and wide and the rest are made up of the 10 teams from the CAFL competition.

The competition is a round robin event with each match consisting of 2 x 15 minute halves, where the teams get to battle it out over three days to see who the ultimate winner is.

Regional Manager, AFL Central Australia, Andy Hood said “You couldn’t ask for a better way to kick of the footy season. Not only is this the largest Indigenous AFL carnival in Australia, but it is probably the most gruelling as well”.

“For some of these communities, these could be the only matches they get to play all year, so as you can imagine the players are eagerly waiting with anticipation to get here and have a run on the park”.

“So come on down and support this great event, your favourite team, family and friends”.

All matches are played at Traeger Park on Easter Friday, Saturday and then the finals on the Sunday.

Admission costs are $6 per person for adults and $2 for kids. This is a family event, so alcohol is strictly prohibited.
