B2M TO ENTERTAIN ‘DREAMTIME IN DARWIN’ CROWD

Tiwi Island band B2M will entertain the masses ahead of the ‘Dreamtime in Darwin’ clash between Port Adelaide and Melbourne on May 22 at TIO Stadium.

Tiwi Island band B2M will entertain the masses ahead of the ‘Dreamtime in Darwin’ clash between Port Adelaide and Melbourne on May 22 at TIO Stadium.

The band, managed by Skinnyfish Music, will form part of the pre-match entertainment and will perform songs they have written that reflect their indigenous culture and heritage that is so rich.

"We are so excited to be part of this event in Darwin," said B2M band member Thomas Simon.

Simon and fellow band member, Greg Orsto have played significant roles in shaping football in the Northern Territory with Simon as the inaugural captain and Orsto being the Head Coach of the Tiwi Bombers in their historic debut season in the NTFL.

"The songs and lyrics we have put together are a true reflection of ourselves and where we have come from. To display them on a national stage before such an important and symbolic match in Darwin fills us with great pride and we are so fortunate to be part of this celebration."

Skinnyfish Music manage a number of other high profile indigenous artists and bands across the Northern Territory including the well know Gurrumul Yunipingu from Galiwin’ku.

"Skinnyfish Music are extremely proud to be promoting the vast indigenous talent we have through the Dreamtime in Darwin concept, it provides a platform for bands like B2M to display their rich culture and history through song which is an integral part of their life," said Skinnyfish Music Director Mark Grose.

Throughout the day, at the breaks and before the game fans will be treated to a variety of recorded music from the various indigenous artists that Skinnyfish Music manage from the Northern Territory.

"This will give the fans a taste of the exceptional talent we have in the Northern Territory and will provide unknown artists the opportunity to get their songs played to a large audience that would otherwise not happen."

AFL Northern Territory would also like to announce that Skinnyfish Music have formed a partnership with the Galiwin’ku Football Association (GFA) for next year.

"Skinnyfish Music have provided much needed support to the GFA in terms of resource support and now that they have solidified their relationship via a formal partnership we hope to have their continued support into the future," said AFLNT Remote Development Manager Tavis Perry based on Elcho Island.

"Their support is invaluable to the community, and one can see the distinct importance of football and music to the people and we hope that with this partnership we can forge the two together as one."

B2M will commence the pre-match festivities at 6:30pm after the Defence Force Recruiting Dreamtime in Darwin curtain raiser between Santa Teresa and Maningrida starting at 4:10pm.
