The fixture for the 2009/10 TIO NTFL Season has been official released by AFL Norther Territory. With the changing landscape of football in the Top End with the NT Thunder and a wave of new coaching appointments this is a season not to be missed.
AFL Northern Territory today officially released the fixture for the 2009/10 TIO NTFL Season.
Features of this season’s fixture include, four home games for the Tiwi Bombers in Nguiu along with seven Friday night games, 11 double headers and six triple headers making it a football feast for everyone to enjoy.
AFL NT will also introduce themed rounds to this season’s fixture including a Women’s Round (Rd 8), Community Round (Rd 9) and a Call to Arms Round (Rd 10).
Round 1 of the TIO NTFL Season will see the annual Defence Jobs Carnival take place in conjunction with the NTFL League Round 1 fixtures at TIO Stadium. It will also feature a historic match between the Tiwi Bombers and reigning premiers St Marys, to be played at Tiwi Oval on Bathurst Island.
Other highlights of the 2009/10 TIO NTFL Season include Grand Final replays between St Marys and Wanderers in Rounds seven and 16.
Going on the success of the 2008/09 TIO NTFL Finals Series, the 2009/10 Grand Final will be played under lights for the second successive year on Saturday 13 March.
The 2009/10 TIO NTFL Season has a changed dynamic now with the NT Thunder’s inaugural inclusion in the 2009 QAFL competition. Combine this with new coaches for Palmerston, Waratah, Southern Districts, the Tiwi Bombers and reigning premiers St Marys, this season is one not to be missed.
