Game 1, Div ONE
St John’s Vs CSC at Casurina 12/08/09
The first game of the quit now cup was between CSC and St John’s at Casuirna. CSC got the early jump on St Johns kicking the First 3 goals of the game, after the third goal the St John’s players finally woke up and ended up taking 7 point lead into the first change. The match was one with a lot of run and carry and some strong contested marks up front. The lead changed a lot in the 3rd quarter with Brenton Motlop’s Goal from the boundary being one of the highlight’s of the match. A goal to Jed Anderson on the 3 quarter time siren put CSC in front heading into the final change as St Johns Trailed by 4 points.
Paul Cox got the St John’s lad’s off to a great start in the final quarter with the first clearance from the middle resulting in a mark and Goal By Dion Miggun who ended up booting 4 majors for the day. St johns then worked the ball well down the wing twice resulting in two great team goals. CSC never gave up and came back to within 1 point but the St Johns lad kicked the last two goals to run out winners by 11 points.

Game 2 DIV ONE
Kormilda vs. Darwin at Gardens Oval 13/08/09
The 2nd game of the first round was a hard hitting and fast running game. The first quarter was a battle through the midfield but once either side got it into there forward line it always result in a score. Kormilda took a 8 point lead into the first change with Troy Martip looking promising early kicking 2 in the first.
The second quarter was dominated by Darwin’s big giant Cameron Jones who was everywhere; he took strong grabs all around the ground and marked and goals just before half time to lock the scores up. The half time chat with Darwin’s new coach Tom Frawley must of worked because in the 3rd kicked 3 goals to Kormilda 2point, The Darwin lad’s were very physical during the quarter with a lot of hard hitting bumps and strong tackles. At the final change the score was Darwin 8.2 50 to Kormilda 5.5 35.
Kormilda starting like a house on fire by kicking the first two goals of the final term taking them to within 3 points, Troy Martip kicked the second to take his tally to three. But that was the only highlight for Kormilda, with Darwin kicking a few late ones to eventually run away with the game, a freakish goal from the boundary by Jake Toogood finished the game a wrapped up Darwin’s win.
