Rosas invited to 2019 AFL Draft Combine

Malcolm Rosas

Malcolm Rosas has continued his impressive year with an invitation to the 2019 NAB AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne in the first week of October.

Rosas’ selection comes on the back of his performances at the NAB Under 18 Championships and NT Thunder NEAFL matches in 2019.

The AFL released a list of 79 players invited to test in front of AFL clubs on Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 October, with the Combine moving from Marvel Stadium for the first time since 2011 due to an international UFC event on Sunday 6 October.

Prospects needed to be nominated by at least four AFL clubs to head to the national Combine, with state Combine invitees set to be revealed in coming weeks.

The introduction of the pre-season supplementary selection period and the mid-season Rookie Draft has impacted the Draft Combine ist, with no mature-age player included in the list.

AFLNT Manager of Talent and Pathways, Wally Gallio said Rosas’ selection was reward for effort.

“Malcolm has shown great resilience in recovering from injury and then playing the last two matches in the NAB Cup and Allies to show he has the talent to play AFL.

“His pace and X-factor have certainly impressed AFL recruiters enough to get him to the Draft Combine and I know he’ll put his best foot forward once there,” he said.
