7MATE TO BROADCAST LOCAL NTFL ACTION

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) has today announced that in conjunction with Southern Cross Television, from Sunday 5 February 2017, it will be broadcasting the match of the round of the local Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) competition.

The Men's Premier League game will be broadcast on 7MATE in Darwin and the Central service footprint (a reach of more than 700,000 people right across Australia) as a delayed telecast every Sunday until the end of the TIO NTFL 2016/17 season, including the finals rounds.

Kicking off with the top of the table clash between Nightcliff and St Mary's, the people of Darwin and the Central NT who can't get to the game will be able to see every minute of the game. And those who have seen it live can re-live it all again!

Kym Menzies General Manager Sales, Southern Cross Television said, "We are delighted to be able to support the game and bring the local footy comp to our viewers so they can see their local players in action.

"Football is a great way to engage our younger viewers including our indigenous viewers who either play or just love watching the game."

"The AFLNT has and will continue to be a great opportunity for our young footballers many who aspire to and will go onto other competitions including the AFL," said Kym.

AFLNT CEO Michael Solomon said after many months of AFLNT Media and Southern Cross Television working together he was excited to know that NT football was returning to lounge rooms across Australia.

"I am overjoyed to know the people who live in the Territory and beyond, that don't get access to our great competition every week, will now be able to witness our great game from the comfort of their home.

"Not only is this exceptional for football in the NT but it's good news for the clubs and their sponsors, and we will continue to work with clubs, umpires and officials to ensure the spectacle we bring to fans each week continues to exemplify the very best of NT football," Solomon said.

Southern Cross Television will run on-air promotion on all stations to let viewers know what time on a Sunday the games will be broadcast.

For the first game in 7Darwin the broadcast of Rd 16 - Nightcliff v St Mary's will be on Sunday 5 February from 4:30pm - 6:30pm and in 7Central it will be on from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
