ANDREW HODGES ANNOUNCED AS CROWS’ WOMEN’S SENIOR ASSISTANT COACH

AFL Northern Territory is pleased to announce Andrew Hodges has been selected as an inaugural senior assistant coach for the Crows’ National Women’s League team.

AFL Northern Territory is pleased to announce Andrew Hodges has been selected as the inaugural senior assistant coach for the Crows’ National Women’s League team.
Hodges has been working with AFLNT as the State Academy Development Coach since 2015 and has been instrumental in developing female football talent in the Territory.
He is joined by Bec Goddard who was today announced the Crows inaugural senior coach.
Following a joint submission with AFLNT, the Crows are one of eight sides to be granted entry in the AFL’s National Women’s League, scheduled to start in 2017.
Adelaide Football Club Head of Football David Noble said the Club was delighted to have Andrew as a senior assistant coach in the Crows’ inaugural women’s squad.
“We are extremely pleased to appoint Andrew to this role, he comes to our club with a wealth of experience, expertise, and passion for women’s football,” Noble said.
“We have been working closely with AFLNT over the course of the year and we felt it was natural to continue that involvement in an official capacity.
“A senior assistant in the Territory allows players to remain at home or choose to be based in the Territory and will drive growth and engagement in northern Australia.”
AFLNT CEO Michael Solomon said Hodges appointment is a significant development for the new team.
“We are extremely proud Andrew has been appointed to this position, it is a real credit to his level of commitment and professionalism,” Solomon said.
“We are also pleased Hodges will remain in Darwin, working closely with NT-based Crows players.
“Not only do we see a focus on combining talent across the central corridor of the country, Andrew’s position also ensures an elite resource for female footballers in the Territory.”
Prior to commencing his current role with AFLNT, Hodges was a premiership coach with NTFL club Wanderers and has since worked with some of the most talented young players in the Territory as part of his role as State Academy coach.
Hodges has been heavily involved in coaching since 2007 and has recently worked as an assistant coach with the Allies side that participated in the 2016 NAB AFL Nationals Under-18 Championships.
Hodges said he is excited to join the Crows as their National Women’s League senior assistant coach.
“The National Women’s League is a huge step forward in our game and I’m honoured to be a part of the inaugural competition with the Crows,” Hodges said.
“Through AFLNT’s alignment, we have been working closely with the Crows and I have really respected the way they have gone about it.
“It is a great opportunity and I can’t wait to get started.”
The Crows assembled an experienced panel, including Noble, high performance expert Jane Woodlands-Thompson, and AFLNT High Performance Manager Wally Gallio, to conduct the search for coaches announced today.
A detailed analysis of talent is also well underway with more announcements to be made in the coming weeks.
The inaugural competition will run across February and March in 2017.
