TIO NTFL 'Seatbelts Save Lives' Women's Grand Final

AFL Northern Territory yesterday launched the TIO NTFL ‘Seatbelts Save Lives’ Women’s Grand Final to be played between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 10 March.

The Warriors won their way through to the premiership decider after victory in the Second Semi Final while the Saints were too good for reigning premiers Palmerston in last weekend’s Preliminary Final.

AFLNT Manager of Football Operations, Anthony Venes, says the Grand Final is a chance to celebrate another successful year of women’s football programs being rolled out across the Territory.

"This year’s Women’s competition has been very successful and highly competitive and the Grand Final is an opportunity to showcase the exciting development of female talent in the Top End," said Venes.

"Waratah will go in to the match as favourites but the Saints can’t be discounted after a convincing win over the Magpies in last weekend’s Preliminary Final",

"It is a match of high expectation between two arch rivals and we are predicting it will be a tight match as always".

At the conclusion of the game, the winning team will be presented with premiership medallions and the trophy along with a presentation to 2011/12 Youth Girls Premiers Palmerston who won last weekend’s Grand Final.

The match will be played at 4pm as a curtain raiser to the do-or-die TIO NTFL ‘Seatbelts Save Lives’ Premier League Preliminary Final between Nightcliff and Wanderers at 6:30pm.
