AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) and Tiwi Island Football League (TIFL) are excited to announce the live broadcast of the TIFL Grand Final. It will be available on AFLNT’s YouTube channel for spectators for spectators to watch if unable to attend the game this Sunday.
After a COVID affected Grand Final last season, Walama Bulldogs and Imalu Tigers will meet in this year’s TIFL Grand Final to win the Maurice Rioli Cup.
This season the teams played each other once in the Semi Final with Walama winning the game in a nail-biting contest. Their fixtured season matches against each other were deemed wash out’s due to heavy rainfall.
Over the 51-year history of TIFL, Walama have won three Premierships and Imalu have won 18.
The Grand Final’s Best on Ground player will receive the Brother Pye award for their outstanding skill and impact on the game. This award was named after John Pye who introduced Australian Rules football to Bathurst and Melville Islands in 1941.
