Alwyn Davey - Legend

Player

Playing his junior career at the Palmerston Magpies Football Club, Alwyn Davey was a 1999 NT Schoolboys representative where he earned All Australian Schoolboys selection. Alwyn “Froggy” Davey joined his brother Aaron in the 2019 AFLNT Hall of Fame intake after a brilliant career at AFL club, Essendon.

Still a teenager, Davey was a member of the 2000/01 and 2001/02 Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) premiership teams in addition to playing in the 1999/00 and 2002/03 grand final teams.

He represented the NT against Norwood in 2000 before moving to Adelaide to play with Port Adelaide and South Adelaide.

Drafted by Essendon in 2006, Davey made his debut in 2007, winning the AFL Army Award recognising bravery and selflessness in an annual match against Hawthorn.

After reaching his 100th game in 2013 and representing Australia in the International Series against Ireland that November, Davey retired from the AFL and returned to Darwin to play with his junior club Palmerston and to join NT Thunder.

Playing with the Palmerston Magpies, Davey won the club best and fairest in his next two seasons in 2013/14 and 2014/15. He also finished runner-up in the NT Thunder Club Champion Award in 2014.

Davey played as co-captain of the Palmerston Magpies in 2016/17 and 2017/18 in addition to being co-coach in 2015/16 and coach in the 2018/19 and this season (2019/20).
