Wright on track as newest Team NAB AFL Auskick recruit!

NAB AFL Auskick of the Year

Team NAB AFL Auskick has its sixth recruit of the year, with 11-year-old Takiyah Wright from the Manunda Terrace Primary School Auskick centre in Darwin joining the team.

The 2024 Team NAB AFL Auskick coaches Nick Daicos and Katie Brennan encourage all registered Auskickers to enter via submitting a video online for a chance to join the team. They are on the lookout for NAB Auskickers who show teamwork, dedication, and passion!

Selected Auskickers will have the opportunity to invite an Auskick teammate of their choice to join them for a remarkable experience, attending an AFL Grand Final.

Eleven lucky winners will be announced during the Seven Network’s AFL match broadcast, with Takiyah being the sixth lucky Auskicker to join the team accompanied by her chosen nominee – her brother, Joseph Jeffrey.

Takiyah and Joseph will join their fellow Team NAB AFL Auskick recruits at the MCG in Melbourne for a once-in-a-lifetime Grand Final experience, where they take centre stage and present the winning grand final team with their premiership medallions.

Takiyah is a footy fan from a big family, growing up in Darwin with nine siblings including Joseph! They attend AFL matches whenever the Gold Coast Suns play in Darwin, to watch their uncle Joel Jeffrey play for the Suns.

Takiyah loves playing footy and has recently been selected to travel to Geelong this August to represent the Northern Territory in the School Sports Australia (SSA) Australian Football Championships. She hopes to improve her skills and knowledge of AFL, but most importantly to enjoy the game.

Outside of footy, Takiyah and Joseph both love playing basketball. If they aren’t on the court or kicking the footy, you can find them spending time with their family, they all love being outdoors camping, fishing or hunting.

As part of being selected as a Team NAB AFL Auskick recruit, Takiyah has the chance to be crowned the 2024 NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year which will be announced during Toyota AFL Grand Final Week.

The lucky NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year will receive a remarkable $5,000 prize thanks to NAB and have the privilege of being mentored by an AFL and AFLW player throughout 2025.
