2024 SunCable BRFL Round Eight Recap

Friday night kicked off round seven of the 2024 SunCable Big Rivers Football League (BRFL) Women’s division with the Katherine Camels and Arnhem Crows both claiming victories.  

The Katherine Camels asserted their dominance with a 39-point win over Katherine South, showcasing relentless pressure inside 50.  

Despite a competitive effort from Katherine South early on, the Camels' ability to convert opportunities ultimately sealed the match. Brittany Daly led the charge, supported by Eve Rogers, while Grace Senior's three goals proved crucial.  

Meanwhile, the Arnhem Crows continued their impressive form with a commanding 72-point win against Eastside, maintaining their status as Premiership favorites. Denisha Koimala's six-goal haul combined with Jonita Kingsley's standout performance highlighted their dominance, with captain Kaleishia Ross leading Eastside's resistance alongside vice-captains Lee-Shay Gillett and Charlee Byers. 

In the Men’s division on Saturday, the action was intense as the Katherine Camels, Ngukurr, and Arnhem secured wins in round eight. The Katherine Camels displayed discipline and efficiency in their 44-point victory over the Northern Warlpiri Swans, capitalizing on a decisive second-quarter blitz.  

Despite the Swans' efforts, including a strong performance from Harry McKimmie, the Camels' balanced attack led by William Robinson, Daniel Vercoe, and Lachlan Wareham, each contributing three goals, ensured their victory.  

Ngukurr dominated against a depleted Garrak Bombers side, securing a massive 185-point win with captain Kurtley Silver orchestrating play.  

Meanwhile, the Arnhem Crows pulled away in the second half to secure a 36-point victory over Gurindji, spurred by Kiefin Mardi's standout performance and a strong showing from captain Shanton Ladd, who kicked four goals.  

Braun Bush, Corey Raymond, and Desmond Hood also contributed with two goals each, sealing the Crows' win in the final match of round eight.
