2024 SunCable BAFL Women's Round Three Recap

BAFl Rd3 Recap

The women’s kicked off round three of the 2024 SunCable Barkly Australian Football League season on Friday night with the Spitfires taking a strong win over the YDU before Elliott struggled with accuracy on Sunday afternoon.

It was the Sarah Byrne show for the Spitfires as it was a case of leather poisoning for her as she dominated in the midfield earning herself a goal for her troubles.

She combined well with Hayley Williams, who kicked four goals and Delaicee Hansen with three.

Ricquie Binning was also extraordinarily strong for the Spitfires, who also had found plenty of the ball with a goal.

For YDU, Asinate Bradbury was named best on the ground alongside Perpethua Ali, who stayed resilient in the one-sided clash.

Spitfires recorded an 80-point win.

Fresh off their first win in their first game in the competition, the Epenarra Saints were eager to go two from two, before Elliott put a stop to that with a 33-point win.

Despite early scoreboard pressure from Elliott, the result never seemed out of reach for the Saints as inaccuracies cost them valuable chances to fight their way back into the game.

Elliott would only kick five goals to the Saints one for the whole match, but also had 10 behinds.

That might prove an issue in closer games against more accurate sides but regardless, celebrations occurred for Elliott's first win of the season.

Nishanaye Thompson was named best on ground from Eillott followed closely by Terrazita Jackson.

The men’s division was able to enjoy the weekend with a division-wide bye.
