BAFL recap

This past weekend in the 2024 SunCable Barkly Australian Football League (BAFL) was marked by some interesting matchups, despite a quieter schedule due to unforeseen circumstances affecting fixtures.

Nevertheless, the BAFL still featured compelling action, highlighted by YDU's thrilling victory over Barkly Work Camp (BWC) and Epenarra securing a crucial win to bolster their finals aspirations.

YDU and BWC delivered an intense contest that showcased the competitive spirit of the league. The match saw a back-and-forth battle with players like YDU's Clayton Hayes and BWC's Ameziah Nelson captivating the crowd with their skill and determination.

The margin remained tight throughout, never exceeding seven points in either direction. The third quarter was particularly dramatic, with BWC dominating scoring opportunities but only managing one goal to tie the game heading into the final quarter.

In the end, it was YDU who prevailed, sealing the victory with two crucial goals in the last term, despite a late goal from BWC's Felix Brown keeping the contest tense until the final moments.

Richard Dixon was instrumental for YDU, supported by Ismael Nandy and Clinton James, who each contributed two goals.

Meanwhile, Epenarra celebrated their third win of the season, positioning themselves within striking distance of the top four.

The Saints demonstrated their potential with a convincing performance, led by Stefan Epenarra's three-goal effort and contributions from Edrick Mick and captain Lawrence Drover, who also made significant impacts on the scoreboard.

Melvin Peterson and Cedric Price added to the team's vocal leadership throughout the match.

The Eagles, however, put up a spirited fight, with Ezekiel Butcher registering three goals in a valiant effort.
