With just one week remaining in the home-and-away season of the 2024 SunCable Barkly Australian Football League (BAFL), the final positions on the ladder are hanging in the balance, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion.

In the women’s division, Epenarra achieved a crucial 33-point victory over YDU in round 11, securing their fifth win of the season. This win propelled Epenarra past Elliott into second place on the ladder. Deborah Dickenson led the charge with two goals, continuing her stellar season. Her efforts were complemented by Floretta Lauder, Joylene Epenarra, and Rekiah Chungaloo, each contributing a goal and demonstrating their offensive prowess.

Despite the loss, YDU’s captain, Rachel Dixon, stood out as a beacon of hope for her team. YDU will now face the Spitfires in their final match, with a last-ditch effort required to secure a spot in the finals.

In the men’s division, Elliott delivered a breathtaking performance in round 13, registering their second-highest score of the season with an astonishing 180 points. The Hawks' offensive display was nothing short of extraordinary, with 29 goals and just six behinds.

Kurt Raymond stole the spotlight with a mind-blowing 15 goals, marking one of the finest individual performances of the 2024 BAFL season. Captain Anthony Raymond added three goals, while Lane Jackson, Patrick Campbell, and Lazarus Jones each contributed two goals.

With the finals approaching, BWC faces a challenging path to the top four. Nonetheless, Kieran Kingston’s impressive performances have been a bright spot for the team, providing a foundation for their final push.

In another crucial matchup, Ali Curung eliminated Epenarra from finals contention with a 24-point victory. Nicky Poulson, who has been a standout performer all season, once again showcased his skills with two goals and a dominant presence in the midfield.
