AFLNT is proud to celebrate and support the following club activations for Round 9 of the 2022/23 TIO NTFL Season.
Epilepsy Awareness ‘Purple’ Round – TIO Stadium
Led by Raphael Clarke from St Mary’s Football Club and Jonathon Peris from the Nightcliff Tigers Football Club, who themselves have suffered from epilepsy for over a decade. The round will raise awareness and funds for the Epilepsy Foundation in the Northern Territory.
After Raphael experienced an epileptic seizure in late October, Jonathan Peris reached out to offer support. “He (Jonathan) mentioned all the work raising awareness that James and Tara May have been doing since the tragic passing of Kailah May earlier this year. We wanted to use our strong connections through NTFL and continue to raise awareness and hopefully get an epilepsy support center up and running in the Territory”
All Premier League matches hosted at TIO stadium this Saturday 26 November will be participating in raising awareness for the cause.
- 1 player from each Premier League team will wear purple socks to represent the 1 in every 24 people that develop Epilepsy.
- At TIO Stadium, collection tins will be placed at Bonson gate and at the Kiosk on level 2.
- Patrons can also donate at the PINT home game at DXC Arena.
- St Mary’s Football Club will have a sausage sizzle at TIO Stadium, where they will be selling a variety of products such as purple shoelaces, hair ties, bags, and ribbons with all proceeds going to the Epilepsy Foundation.
- Barra Rod and Reel Raffle Combo! Donated by Fishing and Outdoor World, $5 per raffle ticket.
- Patrons are encouraged to show support by wearing purple!

T for Thomas Round – Norbuilt Oval
This weekend has been marked by the Southern Districts Football Club as their Sepsis Awareness Round, where the T for Thomas Foundation will give out information about sepsis and will have their volunteers at the club passing out this information. The men's and women's Premier League teams will also be part of special activations to help raise awareness of the T for Thomas message.
T for Thomas is a foundation undertaken as a tribute to Thomas Snell, who was a 13-year-old player at the Crocs who sadly passed away due to sepsis. Also referred to as blood poisoning, sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to an infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. Every year at least 18,000 Australians are diagnosed with sepsis, with around 5,000 losing their lives.
The Southern Districts Men’s and Women’s Premier League sides will don specialty guernseys designed in collaboration with local Larrakia artist, Jason Lee and the T for Thomas Foundation. Speak to the T for Thomas Team on Saturday at Norbuilt Oval if you’re interested in purchasing one of the special guernseys.
There are several activities that will take place at Norbuilt Oval (Freds Pass) including:
- Giant T to be painted onto the oval
- Southern Districts and Palmerston Premier League sides to be playing for perpetual T for Thomas Plaque.
- Women’s and Men’s Premier League teams to line up for a team photo and make a ‘T’ symbol with their arms before each of their games
- Spectators and players are encouraged to wear orange to the footy
