NT Thunder AFL Juniors
2010 Thunder Juniors Holiday Carnival
On Wednesday the 7th and Thursday the 8th of April, AFLNT hosted the 2010 Thunder Juniors Holiday carnival at St Johns College. A total of 62 players aged between 8-12 participated in the carnival. The players took part in many different activities like learning the finer points of kicking, handballing, marking and tackling. There was also a question an answers session with 3 NT Thunder senior players.
On Thursday the wet weather didn’t dampen spirits of the players as they were able to play 3 different matches against each other, showcasing their talents. All players who participated got something out of the carnival, whether it was learning new skills or making new friends.
AFLNT has run the holiday carnival for the last 4 years with each year being very successful. It is a great way to lead up to the start of the Thunder Juniors which is starting this weekend.

AFL juniors is a pathway from Under 8 Auskick to Youth Football.
The rules and procedures for conducting modified matches at varying developmental levels, particularly for boys and girls aged 8 (or turning 8 this year)-12, are designed specifically to maximise participation, skill acquisition and development. The AFL Junior rules are a feature of the NAB AFL Auskick program but importantly are also recommended for adoption by primary schools, community leagues and clubs that are responsible for delivering football to this age group.
